Synergizing IoT in Home and Solar Photovoltaic Energy Systems for Developing Countries

Abstract

Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS) have emerged as indispensable tools for promoting efficient energy consumption alongside the integration of renewable energy sources (RESs), notably solar photovoltaic (PV) energy, within residential settings. This lecture is for the enhancement of traditional home infrastructure through the implementation of smart-home-grid technologies, facilitated by the development of a latest technologies.

Central to this endeavor is the integration of the Internet of Things (IoT), which establishes seamless connectivity between electrical appliances, homeowners, and utility providers. By integrating RESs, HEMS, and IoT, a comprehensive and adaptable solution emerges, poised to revolutionize energy consumption in developing countries.

Recognizing the absence of an integrated solution, a singular controller, the Internet of Home Energy Management System (IoHEMS), was designed to address this critical gap. The IoHEMS represents a pivotal step towards the creation of smart homes, fostering enhanced quality of life and domestic environments. Furthermore, a tailored Android application, "MQTT dashboard," featuring a user-friendly graphical interface, enabling seamless control of the complete IoHEMS infrastructure via smartphones and IoT cloud servers.

This session underscores the transformative potential of synergizing IoT in home and solar PV energy systems, particularly within the context of developing countries.
